Overview
Meta is the largest social media group that reports a combined daily user count. Its Family daily active people (DAP) metric counts unique users of Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp. DAP averaged 3.58 billion in December 2025, up 7% year over year [1].
On the Q4 2025 call, Meta said it had more than 2 billion daily actives each on Facebook and WhatsApp, with Instagram "just shy of that" [2].
Recent Trend
DAP averaged 3.54 billion in Q3 2025, up 8% year over year, according to an IG preview based on Meta's reporting [4]. The December 2025 figure of 3.58 billion matched analyst expectations [3].
A secondary analysis by AdsUploader reports a dip to 3.56 billion in Q1 2026, the first quarter-on-quarter decline in the series, and then a recovery to 3.60 billion in Q2 2026 [5]. It says Meta linked the dip to internet disruptions in Iran and restrictions on WhatsApp in Russia [5]. It also notes that Meta gives an error margin of about 3% for worldwide DAP [5]. Check these quarterly figures against Meta's own releases before relying on them.
Monetisation
Meta's total revenue was USD 59.89 billion in Q4 2025 and USD 200.97 billion for full year 2025, up 24% and 22% respectively [1]. Advertising brought in USD 196.18 billion of the full-year total [1]. Family of Apps ad revenue was USD 58.1 billion in Q4 2025 [1][3].
In Q4 2025, ad impressions rose 18% and average price per ad rose 6% year over year. For full year 2025 the increases were 12% and 9% [1]. Reality Labs made USD 2.21 billion in 2025 revenue [1].
Methodology
Usage and revenue figures come from Meta's Q4 and full year 2025 results release and earnings call [1][2]. CNBC [3] and IG [4] are used for context. Meta estimates DAP and says the estimate takes significant judgment. The Q1 and Q2 2026 DAP values come from a secondary aggregator [5], not Meta, and are shown in text only. Revenue is in USD and is not adjusted for currency.
Platform-wide social media user identities from DataReportal / Kepios, a secondary aggregator, were not verified for this edition. They are therefore not included.
